This week I'm talking nails! With New Year coming you guys might want to complete your first 2018 outfit with some crazy fancy nails, right? Here is a list of my top favorite nail art designs to try for the last party of the year (or whenever just trying to theme this up) + tutorial videos for each style!
1.The Aquarium Nails
The aquarium nails are basically two pieces of acrylic nails sealed together with a space left in between them and filled with little deco pieces (sparkles, rhinestones, etc..) and water. The whole thing is ”built” right on top of your real nail, almost just like a normal manicure but the end result is amaaazing. It literally transforms your nail into a tiny dreamy aquarium! *yes I'm still a child inside*
Here is an amazing video tutorial of this technique by the nail artist@denisejohn65:
I love this aqua nail design because of the amount of care in the little details to create this sea-themed set, such beautiful artwork!
2. The Snow Globe Nails
If you like the previous idea and don't mind pushing the extravagance a tiny bit further you might consider the aquarium nails' cousins: The snow globe nails! Perfect for Christmas, it's done similarly to the previous style but in the shape of an actual ball on top of your cuticle!
In the following tutorial @absolutenails shows us how to create a snowman snow globe for a Christmas nail set:
3.The unicorn horn
Usually done on sharply filed nails or at least pointy to match the look of an “actual” unicorn horn. The style is made with multiple layers of “3D builder gel” using “dotting tools” to create vertical lines from the base to the pointy end of the nail.
A must try for gemstones addicts! This manicure design is created by coating multiple layers of polish onto the nail. Each layer is painted in a different color so that when filing the coats of polish the underlying colors appear in a gradient way. These beautiful nuances create a gemstone likeeffect! Of course, different styles exist, you can see some artists using rhinestones on their design to add to the “crystallized“ geode effect.

5.The 3D snake texture nails:
This one is my little favorite (because I'm a big fan of these creatures myself). To create the 3d snakeskin look, nail artists draw the lines of the desired scales pattern onto the cuticle before filling the inside of these lines with building gel to create the cool 3d effect.
The snake texture of the next video is sooo dreamy mixed with the shattered glass effect! This glossy holo snake look is made by@longhairprettynails (the snake scales technique starts at 6:44 in the video):
6.The shattered glass nails:
A little less extravagant but as colorful and mesmerizing as the previous designs. I think this could be the perfect, dreamy, shiny look that one would want to wear on a day like New Year. To create this design, tiny pieces of holographic foils are placed onto your nail and sealed with a transparent gel to create a glossy and vibrant shattered glass effect.
In the next video, @longhairprettynails shows you how her extreme shatter glass nails are done. Enjoy! :
